Shamans

Shamanism is an ancient spiritual practice used by our ancestors worldwide.
Stanley Krippner wrote, ”Shamans are community-assigned magico-religious professionals who deliberately alter their consciousness in order to obtain information from the spirit world.”
Shaman means “one who knows” or “sees in the dark.” The spirits chose the shaman rather than someone in a shaman family simply following the line. Before becoming a practicing shaman, one must undergo many initiations and tests spanning several years.
They learn a variety of skills including - diagnosing and treating illness, prophecy, interpreting dreams, gathering herbs, changing the weather and supervising rituals.
A shaman is only a shaman as long as he or she is successful. If their methods don’t work no one will ask for their help.
