Bibliography of Reported Biological Phenomena (Effects) and Clinical Manifestations Attributed to Microwave and Radio-Frequency Radiation

The Naval Medical Research Institute released a report by Z Glaser PhD on the ‘Bibliography of Reported Biological Phenomena (Effects) and Clinical Manifestations Attributed to Microwave and Radio-Frequency Radiation’ in 1971 and updated it in 1972.

It cites 2,300 references to create its list of harms which are categorised into 16 groups with 128 different effects:

  • Heating Organs - 8 organs
  • Changes in Physiological Function - 29 effects
  • Central Nervous System Effects - 9 effects
  • Autonomic Nervous System Effects - 1 effect
  • Physiological Disorders -17 effects
  • Behavioural Changes - 1 effect
  • Blood Disorders - 14 effects
  • Vascular Disorders - 2 effects
  • Enzyme and other Biomedical Changes - 13 effects
  • Metabolic Disorders - 4 effects
  • Gastro-Intestinal Disorders - 4 effects
  • Endocrine Gland Changes - 8 effects
  • Histological Changes - 2 effects
  • Genetic and Chromosomal Changes - 5 effects
  • Pearl Chain Effect (Intracellular orientation of (sub)cellular particles)
  • Miscellaneous Effects - 10 - including ‘sparking between dental fillings’
  • These effects relate to analogue signals, as digital ones did not exist then. By all accounts, digital signals have negative effects that are orders of magnitude worse.

It seems ICNIRP, the mobile telephone safety body, is not aware of this report.
